Radio Robot

I launched an AI-driven pirate radio station, run by robots using feed gathering to find programmes, and text-to-speech to bring the stories to life.

Created out of a desire for an always-on, passive listening experience, the Radio Robots had free reign to deliver their own programming schedule with only a few strict rules. First, that the presenter AIs would both read to the listener to keep them engaged, and secondly, that each morning would begin with a Thought for the Day segment.

Sadly discontinued, this was a real challenge to solve technically, as text-to-speech APIs were thin on the ground. Read more at the original project blog.
